Maternal Mental Health Alliance: A website project to make a difference

Every once in a while, you secure a client on one of those projects that really resonates.

We’ve partnered with Maternal Mental Health Alliance (MMHA) to redevelop their website, and this project definitely falls into that category.

A cause close to the hearts of the whole team, we’re delighted to be working with them to create a digital platform that will help raise greater awareness, ensuring that new and expectant mums in the UK experiencing perinatal mental health problems can find and access the care and support they and their families need.

There are some really striking statistics around maternal mental health which demonstrate the importance of the work carried out by MMHA:

  • 1 in 5 women will experience a perinatal mental health problem
  • 70% will hide or underplay their illness due to fear and stigma
  • Suicide is the leading cause of maternal death within a year of having a baby.

The MMHA website therefore plays a crucial part in raising awareness of the Alliance’s work and providing potentially life-saving signposting to support for women or their families in times of need.

Understanding the importance of their mission and need for a really effective website, we have been working with MMHA to achieve their overarching goals for the site, including:

  • Increasing awareness of the MMHA and the current campaign calls
  • Signposting women and families to perinatal mental health support
  • Attracting new members, Lived Experience Champions, and funders
  • Generating income through a seamless on-site donation journey

The new site will include resources for maternal mental health organisations to help them develop and improve their services, as well as advice and signposting for women and families in need, to ensure they are directed to the best means of support available.

It will also support MMHA in delivering effective, seamless campaigns that help raise awareness of perinatal mental health and ensure all mums, babies and families who are impacted can access the care they need.

All the charities we work with are worthy causes, but this one particularly resonated with our entire team. That shared passion was key in securing the project. We couldn’t be happier to support Maternal Mental Health Alliance on their digital journey, and are doing all we can to raise awareness of the charity’s work. We want to help people to find and access available support for women and new families in need so have been focusing a great deal on the user requirements and their journey through the website to ensure website visitors can find the help they need quickly and easily.
